Our Mission
At Bluffs Community Church, we believe Jesus is the center of all things, and He invites us to make Him the center of our lives. We come together with our questions and imperfections to experience life and faith, and we share the love and hope of Jesus with the world around us.
Our Staff
-
JAKE SMITH
CO-PASTOR
Before planting Bluffs, Jake spent most of his career working in higher education. As co-pastor, he is the primary teacher and somehow finds a way to mention the book of Genesis in almost every message. When he’s not doing something for the church, you can usually find Jake running or talking about running. Jake is passionate about missions and directs the Lax chapter of 30 for Freedom-a run/walk that raises money to fight human trafficking. At Bluffs, his favorite thing is seeing the generations help each other learn more about living the ways of Jesus.
-
MICHELE SMITH
CO-PASTOR
Prior to planting Bluffs, Michele served as a Family Life Pastor, overseeing family, youth, and children’s programs. Michele leads the small groups and teams at Bluffs and is gifted at leading conversations about Jesus and the Bible. Michele loves a good mystery and talking over coffee, often about mysteries. She also loves the family dog even more than she would lead you to believe. At Bluffs, Michele loves seeing people find friends who help each other grow in their faith and commitment to Jesus.
-
ESTHER MANN
WORSHIP PASTOR
Esther Mann has been leading at Bluffs in a myriad of ways since our launch in 2020 and is currently the worship pastor. Esther, alongside her husband Dave, leads the College ministry. Together, they have a passion for discipleship and training students to disciple one another. In addition to Bluffs, she also works at the local Technical College. When she is not working, Esther is typically spending time with her family, watching a good TV show, or working on an art project.
Our Beliefs
-
We believe in an all-powerful, all-loving, creator God who made, rules, and loves the universe and everything in it.
-
We believe Jesus is God's Son and that He came a very long way to show us a better way to live and the way back to God.
-
We believe the Holy Spirit is alive and active in the lives of people who follow Jesus and that He wants to empower us to serve Him and the world around us.
-
We believe God has spoken to us through the Bible and are committed to applying it to our lives.
-
We believe all humanity is broken, imperfect and that imperfection leads to sin, shame, and broken relationships with God and each other.
-
We believe salvation is a free gift of grace for all who have faith in Jesus and that salvation here and now will culminate in eternity with Him in heaven.
